Air Warriors Basketball Team had to sweat through the skin of their teeth before they could overcome a fitter but an unlucky Plateau Rocks Basketball Team of Plateau State yesterday, at the ongoing Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League in Jos.
The second phase of the Savannah Conference, taking place at the indoor sports hall of the National Sports Commission in Rayfield, saw Air Warriors defeat Plateau Rocks 57-41 in an entertaining encounter.
Both sides started strongly, as the first quarter ended in a tie at 14-14. The second quarter saw Rocks lose to the Warriors by one point, 12-13, ending the first half 26-27.
Determined to win the game, the Rocks forced the Warriors to make too many errors, as the third quarter ended in favor of the Jos girls, 13-11.
In the fourth quarter, it was a total blackout for the Rocks, as the Warriors’ tactics and defensive prowess proved too good for the home side, ending 2-18 and sealing the game at 57-41.
In other results from day two, Nigeria Customs defeated Titans 59-56, while Royal Aces thrashed Ham Warriors 83-55.
Plateau Rocks will take on Ham Warriors today at 2 PM, as both sides look to win their first match in the ongoing Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League.
