The Plateau United FC Management Staff showed all and sundry that the new found form of Plateau United football club when they went out there and defeated two times CAF Champions League winner, Enyimba International FC of Aba 1-0 at away was no fluke as the Management Staff replicated same level of fitness and finesse as they emerged Champions of the 2nd edition of Mini Football Tournament to celebrate Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang second year in office.
The tournament put together by the Sports Duchess Foundation saw Plateau United Management Staff beating Rock Hill Academy Staff 1-0 in an explosive final match played at the New Jos Stadium, Zaria Road,Jos.
Plateau United Management Staff qualified to the final after overcoming Plateau State Internal Revenue Service(PSIRS) football team 4-0, while their opponents at the final, Rock Hill Academy Staff beat Plateau State Government House team 2-0.
A novelty “Platinum Match” was also played ahead of the final between Team Government House—comprising mostly government appointees—and the PSIRS team.
The Government House team won the encounter 2-1.
The tournament climaxed with an awards presentation to notable dignitaries including Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, Executive Chairman of PSIRS; Habila Hosea Mutla, General Manager of Plateau United; and Hon. Musa Ashoms, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, who was represented by his wife, Anita Ashoms.
His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Arc. Samuel Nanchang Jatau.
Speaking at the event, Mercy Yop Chuwang, chief organiser of the tournament, expressed gratitude to all participating teams and congratulated the winners for their outstanding performances.
She also lauded Governor Mutfwang for his people-oriented policies and commitment to restoring hope to Plateau citizens.
Medals were awarded to both the champions, Plateau United management staff, and the winners of the Platinum Match.
