The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,SWAN, Plateau Chapter, has been described as partners in the development of Sports on the Plateau.
This assertion was made by the Plateau State Commissioner of Youth And Sport, Hon Musa Ashoms during a parley with Sport Writers at the June 12 Cultural Centre Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Hon Ashoms commended the sports writers for their excellent coverage and reportage of the just concluded National Sports Festival as it has never been this good in the history of the festival for Plateau.
“I don’t know if we’ve had it too good, where you have sports writers from Plateau cover the festival for the state and Nigeria, you’re equally fraternising, knowing your colleagues. For us it is a huge success, despite the loopholes, you have made us see our mistakes with your unbiased and on the spot reportage; many people back home were relying on your reports as they were timely and accurate”.
The Commissioner, in promised to provide facilities where athletes can train, and not being poached by other states and also assured “that there are plans to see reporters from the state are trained on new reporting techniques through regular workshops and seminars and equip them well for better reportage”.
Hon Ashoms also declared that the ministry of Sports will continue to work in synergy with the Sports Writers in the state.
