Senator Mwadkwon Gives His Blessings To Hon. Kwande’s Led One Goal Plateau, Hails Plateau FA Achievements.
Former Senate Minority Leader and APC candidate for Plateau North Senatorial District, Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon, has commended Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Honourable Dr Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, for his efforts towards developing football and creating opportunities for young people in Plateau State.
Mwadkwon spoke while receiving Prince Kwande and other football stakeholders following his appointment as Patron of One-Goal Plateau.
He praised the PFA chairman and his team for what he described as progress recorded in football development since Kwande assumed leadership of the association.
According to Mwadkwon, the achievements highlighted by the PFA are products of hard work, cooperation and teamwork among football stakeholders.
“Let me also congratulate you for the effort you have made so far since assuming office as PFA chairman,” Mwadkwon said.
“All these successes that you have recounted are as a result of your hard work and the teamwork you have with your colleagues.”
Mwadkwon, who represented Plateau North in the Senate in 2023 and briefly served as Senate Minority Leader, stressed that teamwork remains critical to achieving meaningful results in sports and society.
Drawing an analogy from football, he said coaches, players and administrators understand that success is rarely achieved individually.
“You have coaches and you have players, and you know the importance of teamwork,” he said.
“Many people have defined TEAM as ‘Together Everyone Achieves More.’ If you want to achieve something, you do it as a team. You will even achieve more.”
“I’m fully in support of this One Goal Plateau, put in place to return our sports loving Governor for a second term running to continue his good works. I will personally discuss this great movement with him”.
Mwadkwon also recalled his longstanding relationship with Dr Kwande, saying their previous political differences had not prevented him from recognising the PFA chairman’s contributions to Plateau State.
He said the ability of people from different backgrounds to work together should also be reflected in sports development.
Kwande is a former member of the Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee and currently heads the Plateau State Football Association. He has also been involved in grassroots football initiatives aimed at talent discovery, youth participation and social cohesion.
Mwadkwon said he would continue to support initiatives capable of providing opportunities for young athletes while encouraging the Plateau FA leadership to sustain its football-development programmes.
He added that the achievements recorded under the current PFA leadership demonstrate what can be accomplished when administrators, coaches, players and other stakeholders work collectively towards developing the game.
