“As a partner in this laudable initiative, I was pleased to support the participating teams with jerseys, footballs, a trophy, medals, and certificates of participation—contributing to a programme that uses sports to promote rehabilitation, social inclusion, peaceful coexistence, and hope.
The tournament goes beyond football. It demonstrates that the game can serve as a powerful instrument for bringing people together, restoring confidence, encouraging positive engagement, and creating opportunities for individuals to express their talents, regardless of their circumstances.”
The final was an exciting contest, with Police Ambassadors defeating Plateau United U-19 by 5–3 to emerge victorious.
I commend the Controller of Correctional Service and all partners, organisers, participating teams, and officials for their commitment to making this initiative a meaningful platform for peace, unity, rehabilitation, and talent development.
As sports administrators and stakeholders, we must continue to invest in initiatives that remind us that every individual deserves dignity, encouragement, and an opportunity to contribute positively to society.
Football is more than a game. It is a bridge to hope, a tool for rehabilitation, and a force for unity.
