Plateau State FA Chairman Leads A Powerful Sports Delegation To DG, Mutfwang/Piyo 2027 Campaign Council.
The Chairman of the Plateau Football Association (PFA), Honourable Prince Suleiman Kwande, on Thursday led a powerful delegation on a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Director General of the Mutfwang/Piyo 2027 Campaign Council, Sir Joseph Ari (KSM), at his residence in Jos.
The delegation comprised ex-international players, former Plateau United players and captains, like:Victor Wikadson,Danjuma Isandu, Salisu Nakande, Sani Adamu, Bature Saleh, Kelechi Okoye, Patrick Mancha, Golbe Elisha, SWAN members, and members of the Plateau Football Association and other football stakeholders.
In his remarks, Hon. Kwande congratulated the DG on his appointment and formally introduced members of the delegation. He applauded the efforts of the Plateau State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for its support for sports, which he said is evident in the successful hosting of the Governorship Cup for three consecutive editions.
Hon. Kwande explained that the visit was not just by the PFA, but also on behalf of a group known as *ONE-GOAL-PLATEAU*. He described ONE-GOAL-PLATEAU as an inclusive organization of various government officials and stakeholders.
The initiative aims at touring all 325 wards in the state to distribute football kits tagged *Football Gida Gida*, and to engage youths through football academies.
According to him, the ONE-GOAL-PLATEAU team will include government representatives, the Association of Players, the Plateau Youth Council (PYC), the Peace Building Agency, the NDLEA and interfaith groups. He added that the project will serve as a campaign and awareness drive against social vices among youths.
He further noted that the presidential campaign structure includes a Sports Mobilization Directorate, and appealed for the same to be replicated in the state campaign team. He urged the DG to consider including the football community in that committee, considering the Governor’s love for sports.
Responding, Sir Joseph Ari thanked the delegation for the solidarity visit. He commended the PFA Chairman for his selflessness in choosing to come with the entire ONE-GOAL-PLATEAU team rather than as an individual, describing the gesture as heartwarming to the campaign council.
Sir Ari expressed delight at seeing faces he had not seen in a long time, recalling how he used to watch them in football action during his days of radio commentary. He thanked them for their service to Plateau State during their football careers and expressed admiration for the PFA Chairman and his good work in football development.
He identified sports as a unifying factor that cuts across political affiliation, tribe and religion. He charged the PFA to come up with programs that will form part of the Sports Directorate and assured them that some members of the PFA will be included in the Directorate.
He promised that the campaign will be run void of acrimony, with no blackmail of any sort, but will be issue based to build trust among the people of Plateau State. He challenged them to reach out to all sports loving Plateau people to rally round the Governor to return and continue the good work he has started in the sports sector.
He added that the campaign has already hit the ground running and is only awaiting its official unveiling, with the intention of securing full support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in all five positions in the upcoming elections.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a customized Gida Gida Tour jersey to the DG, alongside a framed formal appointment of Sir Joseph Ari as Patron of the ONE-GOAL-PLATEAU Project.
