NFF Supports Renewed Hope Unity Cup, Gives The Way Forward To One.Goal.Nigeria.
The President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alh. Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has tipped the Renewed Hope Unity Cup as a grassroots football tournament that will unite communities across the seven hundred and seventy four(774) local government areas, unearth more hidden talents and promote friendship.
This statement was made during the logo unveiling of the Renewed Hope Unity Cup, tagged One Goal Nigeria in a speech by Sokoto State FA Chairman, Mohammed Nasir Saidu, who represented the NFF President, who was away on official duty to Morocco, venue of the ongoing Women Africa Cup of Nations.
Ibrahim Gusau, in his words and reads in part: A logo is much more than a symbol. It represents identity, vision, purpose, and aspiration.Today’s unveiling therefore marks not just the launch of a tournament’s visual identity, but the beginning of a journey that has the potential to unite communities, discover new talents, promote friendship, and strengthen our national cohesion through the universal language of football.”
“Football remains Nigeria’s greatest unifying force. It transcends ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, and social status. Every time our young people step onto the football field, they learn teamwork, discipline, respect, leadership, resilience, and peaceful competition—values that are essential for building a stronger and more united Nigeria.”
He reiterates: “The Nigeria Football Federation welcomes initiatives that expand opportunities for grassroots football, youth engagement, and talent discovery.Competitions such as the Renewed Hope Unity Football Cup complement our collective efforts to identify the next generation of football stars while using sport as a catalyst for national integration and development. As this competition begins its journey, we encourage the organisers to uphold the highest standards of fairness, transparency, professionalism, and inclusiveness, ensuring that every participant competes in an environment that reflects the true spirit and values of football.”
He concludes: “We wish this noble initiative lasting success and pray that it grows into one of Nigeria’s premier grassroots football competitions. May this logo become a lasting symbol of unity, hope, excellence, and opportunity for generations of Nigerian youth.”
The National grassroots football tournament, amongst the 774 local government areas in Nigeria, has its kickoff tentatively fixed for the 1st of October, 2026.
