Plateau State young athletes were on fire on Sunday as they showed their prowess and intention of surpassing their previous outing at this stage after carting home a whopping six medals which includes a gold medal, first in this 9th edition of the National Youth Games currently taking place in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Team Plateau’s first Gold medal of the games was recorded in Taekwondo through the exceptional displays of Iverson Eric and Yeipyeng Chollom in the Pair Poomsae after beating team Abuja in the finals. They both also won 1 bronze medal, each in Poomsae individual demonstrations, making it a total of 3 medals won by the Taekwondo team. Their quest for more medals continues in day 4
Earlier in the day, in Cycling, Rejoice Danjuma peddled her way to second position in the +40km road race contest, winning 1 Silver for the state
In addition, Veirat Dachollom of Weightlifting was fearless, even as a first timer, in the 53 class category, as she won 2 medals. The first is 1 silver in Snatch, while the second is 1 bronze from the total rating, narrowly missing out on the second position

KOKOWA
Zanang Chioma secured a place in the quarter finals of the female 50kg class. Stephen Vincent also won two matches in the male 55kg class, which brings him closer to securing a place in the quarter finals
GOLF
In Match Play male, Plateau lost to Nasarawa 3 up to 2 while the female defeated Lagos 3 up to 2.
For Eclectic, the male sits in 1st position while the females are in 4th
GYMNASTICS
The team participated in the Men Artistic Gymnastics MAC with compilation still ongoing for the selection of the best 8
BOXING
In the first match, Micah Monday lost narrowly 4-5 against the FCT, while Elijah Micah defeated his opponent from Kaduna by knock out 5-0
BEACH VOLLEYBALL
