LEGENDS OF PLATEAU UNITED FC CALL ON MEMBERS TO USE THEIR STATUS TO PROMOTE PEACE AND UNITY IN COMMUNITIES, COMMISERATE WITH VICTIMS OF RECENT TROUBLES
Legends of Plateau United FC have condemned as unfortunate and barbaric the recent killings that greeted parts of Plateau State.
Chairman, Legends of Plateau United FC, Danjuma Isandu said this to media in Jos following killings that resulted in unrest across the city centre.
Isandu called on Legends of the club to use their hard earned status as public figures to mobilize members of their communities to ensure the attainment of peace and unity.
According to Isandu, `this is when we need well respected legends of football and our beloved club to rise up and ensure that their communities stand firm against the unwelcomed killings that appears to have greeted the communities recently.
While commiserating with Anguwan Rukuba community as well as other communities who had lost their loved ones in the recent troubles, The Chairman, Legends of Plateau United FC thanked Government for its swift intervention and provision of security to contend with the unrest.
He equally called on security agencies and communities to improve upon their intelligence gathering measures as a way of averting unfortunate attacks like these.
He urged communities who had lost loved ones to take solace in God as the sole avenger of injustice meted upon them.
Charging all citizens to think back to the days of old when Christians and Muslims lived in peace to seek to return to it as a perfect panacea to national unity.
Danjuma Isandu prayed for a swift restoration of peace and tranquility in the communities, stressing more engagements in sporting events and increased inter religious dialogue as tools for swiftly attaining unity and peace.
On Sunday March 29th, attack on Anguwan Rukuba community of Gari Yawaye, Jos left several people dead, triggering reprisals that threatened the peaceful communities of Jos and environs.
