Hon(Dr) Prince Suleiman Yahaya Kwande Bares Mind On Kickoff Of The: Renewing The Igbo League, Tagged: Celebrating Football, Community And Unity
Over the weekend, I had the honour of serving as Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony of the Renewed Igbo League, held at the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos.
It was a privilege to witness the commencement of a competition that represents much more than football. The renewed league provides an important platform for grassroots talent development, youth engagement with some senior retired but not tired players, community interaction, cultural expression and peaceful coexistence.
Football has always possessed a unique ability to bring people together. It creates a common ground where differences are set aside, relationships are strengthened, young talents are discovered, and communities come together around a shared passion.
The revival and renewal of the Igbo League is therefore a welcome development in the continuous effort to strengthen grassroots football in Plateau State. Competitions of this nature provide young players with the opportunity to develop their skills, gain competitive experience and potentially attract the attention of academies, clubs and other football development programmes.
As Chairman of the Plateau State Football Association (PFA), I remain committed to supporting credible grassroots football initiatives that create opportunities for young people while strengthening the culture of football across our communities.
I commend the organisers, participating clubs, players, coaches, match officials, supporters and all stakeholders whose commitment has made the return of this league possible.
May this renewed chapter bring greater opportunities for our young talents, strengthen community bonds and contribute meaningfully to the continued development of football in Plateau State.
Football is our common language.
Grassroots development is our responsibility.
Unity is our collective strength.
