The Torch of Unity for the 22nd edition of the NATIONAL Sports Festival, holding in May this year arrived Jos on Friday 4th April, 2025.
Presenting the Torch by the National Sports Commission representative, Mrs Ikana Mboro, to the State Governor, expressed delight at the smooth tour of the Torch within the states of the Federations, who shared in the spirit of the Festival, said Plateau is the last State to receive the Torch in the North-central zone.
Receiving the Torch of Unity on behalf of the Government and people of Plateau State, His Excellency the Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, welcomed the Torch with joy as she emphasized the readiness of the State and it’s Athletes to participate in the forthcoming Festival.
She however, charged the Athletes to be good ambassadors and put in their best to represent the state.
Ngo Piyo added that may the spirit of the Unity Torch Forster Unity amongst athletes at the National Sports Festival for National development and progress.
Also present at the ceremony were the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mallam Nuhu Tampa, the Director of Sports, Prof Ezra Gunen, staff of the National Sports Commission, Management staff of both the Ministry for Youth and Sports Development and Plateau Sports Council, some Chairman and members of the newly inaugurated Plateau Sports Associations Board, Athletes and the general public.
The tour of the Unity Torch will continue round the states of the Federation and climaxed on the 16th May, 2025 as it’s last day and final destination in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the day the National Sports Festival will commence.
