The Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Plateau State, Hon. Musa Ashoms, has likened what he is seeing on ground in Morocco with the drive the administration of His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is putting on ground back home on the Plateau. In a live chat with www.ssimedia247.com.ng, Hon. Musa Ashoms says: “One thing I’ve observed is the availability of facilities in almost every community here. If u are driving or you are on the rail track you see 5-aside football pitches, 7-aside, u see basketball courts, tennis courts. And when they say they are the kingdom of football that’s not a mistake. They’ve invested massively in that area. If we want to catch up as a Nation, we want to grow, we must also invest in sports facilities.”Hon. Ashoms continues: “When I said I can liken Morocco to what’s happening back at home in Jos, is because of what the administration of Governor Manasseh Mutfwang is doing back home which is to improve on our facilities and getting new facilities, hence, you see private individuals building pitches across town. If you go to some areas in Jos, you will find pitches spread across. In places like Tudun Wada, you’ll see a lush green pitch there, and there are synthetic pitches like Pokas in Lamingo, Jos City Park, Malcomines Pitch opposite University of Jos, the one at Gold and Base, the one behind Lorack Hospital, the one along British America junction and very many others that are springing up. You can now see that the fever of sports facilities by the Governor is catching up with almost everybody in the State.””And that’s why the administration of his Excellency, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is doing with the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, about to start work on the New Jos Stadium and of which local government areas are following suit. I was in Shendam lga before I came to Morocco, the Executive Chairman of that local government area, Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kemi Nshe, is also putting up a Sporting center where the youths can come and deciphate their energy, where they can have relationships, network and improve their health status and be fit.The economy around the Sporting world is massive. That’s what countries like Brazil are enjoying and going forward it will also aid the economy of Morocco apart from the other things Morocco has gotten right. In the hotel where am lodged here in Morocco, behind you’ll find alot of sports facilities of which I can count about 10 good pitches for Futsal, Mini football, and normal football pitches, including Courts for Tennis, Basketball, Badminton and what have you.”He reiterates: “As a government under the capable leadership of His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has taken cognisance of some of these things and that’s why am here. I was discussing with some sports and football administrators, I know there’s room for improvement. We are doing alot but there’s alot we still need do and His Excellency is ready to do all of that.”Hon. Ashoms Musa concludes: “I think Plateau State is about the only State you’ll find the FA, the media, administrators and government officials fully on ground here in Morocco, not for jamboree but to take one or two lessons home to further improve sports in the State. Our government knows sports is another means of income to the State, apart from other mouthwatering benefits, the youths are positively engaged professionally.Hence, His Excellency is all out to support the youths, support sports, and ofcourse to develop Plateau State. And we will not miss the mark which is one of the reasons we are here, not to support Nigeria alone but to also take some lessons home.”
