The Benson Idahosa University, Benin, came to the Fisu trials in Jos with a purpose, to defend their titles especially in Table tennis, which they did.
Taking to the tables in the Female final, Hope Udoka squashed her opponent from Lagos State University,LASU, Jimoh Rofiath, 3-1, to coast home with the title and qualification for the world University Games.
Speaking exclusively to ssimedia247.com.ng at the Lutheran Swimming pool side, Udoka, who could not hide her excitement exclaimed “I’m super excited for the win and qualification to the World University Games, I’m not taken it for granted, will work more to be able to compete well and win laurels at the Games. I thank my school, coaches and team mates for their support, you can see that my male counterpart did the same, we’ll make the Nation proud by His grace, we appreciate Unijos for the wonderful preparation and hosting of the trials”.
Also, John Matthew, BIU, in the male final defeated Surmer Qudus, LASU, 3-1, to qualify for the world University Games like his Female counterpart.
Meanwhile, in the Lawn Tennis, the quarter final matches saw Sani Musa, UniAbuja beat Nuhu Adegan, ABU,6-0,6-0; John Fortune, LASU, triumphed over David Dalyop,TSU,6-2,6-1; While, Auwal Shehu, Aliko Dangote Univ defeated Mohammed Mohammed,UniAbuja, 7-6,6-2 and Rubi Kefas Tobi, UniMaid had a better of Obagbodi Matthew,NDU,6-0,6-0.
