Wednesday, 15th January, 2025
Mighty Jets U-19 side produced a performance that is befitting of their name after recording an emphatic victory over visiting Kebbi Grassroots Talent Developers.
Jets ability to score 5 goals in this encounter was never in doubt as early as the 12th minute when Prince Gobum finished up a swift counter attacking move to put his team ahead.
Prince again showed his goal scoring instinct with a close range finish after he was fed by the impressive Isaiah Pam to double the lead for Jets in the 25th minute to end the first half in a commanding lead.
It took only 3 minutes after the resumption of the second half for striker Tochukwu Ibedu to increase the lead for Mighty Jets U-19 in the 48th minute with a classy finish.
However, there was to be no clean sheet for the young Jets as the team from Kebbi reduced the deficit albeit an error from goalkeeper Ibrahim Bature to give them something to cheer in the 52nd minute.
The technical crew of Mighty Jets U-19 brought in captain Enoch Boyi and Geofery Ishaya to replace Auwal Garba and Prince Gobum in the 65th minute and both of them would later register their names on the score sheet.
It took only 10 minutes for Geofery Ishaya to score the 4th goal for Jets in the 75th minute while captain Enoch Boyi wrapped things up with a goal of his own in the 93rd minute to make it 5 for the impressive Jets.
Meanwhile, earlier on Plateau Jets SC U-19 pipped Legacy Stars FC U-19 of Abuja 1-0 with Tobechukwu Ezeagwu scoring the only goal of the match to hand his team all three points.
Both Mighty Jets U-19 and Plateau Jets SC U-19 will be elated to have began the new year with victories to remember.
