So impressed with the sterling performance put up in the ongoing Nigeria Youth League Cup especially from the very young lads from the City of Jos, Mighty Jets U-19 team, Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa has doled out a sum of #500,000 each to both host, Kano Pillars U-19 team and guest, Mighty Jets International Under-19 team.
Addressing the Mighty Jets U-19 team after the Week 7 interesting 3-2 loss to Northern Conference table toppers, Kano Pillars U-19 team, Ahmed Musa said: “I must firstly commend the NFF and the organizers for putting on such league which I believe will in no time reawaken youth football in Nigeria. You guys should count yourselves lucky. During our time there wasn’t any opportunity like this to do what we know how to do best. You guys should just be disciplined and work hard. Although you lost after playing some beautiful brand of football, but it should be a learning curve for you, the sky is your starting point.”
He concludes: “After watching some beautiful brand of football from you, am giving you all #500,000 to share. You guys really reiterated that fact that the headquarters of football talents is still in Jo’s.”
Ahmed Musa, Nigeria’s all time topmost scorer in the history of the World Cup, with some of his friends and teammates like Abdullahi Shehu, Rabiu Ali, among others, was full of praise for the birth of the N-Youth League U-19 Cup which is in its first season, and divided into both Southern and Northern Conferences play their matches across the Nation mostly on Tuedays.
