2026 Nzem Berom Main Organizing Committee Chairperson, And Other Principal Actors Lend Their Voices As The Event Starts Officially
The Chairperson of the Main Organizing Committee of the 2026 Nzem Berom Cultural Festival, Chief Sarah Ochekpe, has expressed deep appreciation to individuals and organizations that contributed to the successful realization of the kickoff of the football tournament.
The former Minister of Water Resources, commended the dedication of the organizing committee and supporters whose efforts made the event possible.
Chief Ochekpe also urged participating districts to uphold the peaceful and united spirit of the Berom people throughout the competition.
According to her, the tournament is not only about football but also about strengthening unity, friendship, and cultural pride among Berom youths.
In his welcome address, the Secretary of the Organizing Committee, Barrister Pam Davou, warmly received guests, teams, and supporters to the tournament. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and sportsmanship during the competition, encouraging players and supporters to respect the rules and celebrate the spirit of fair play.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Nzem Berom, Emmanuel Davou Gyang, commended the main organizing committee for their commitment and hard work in preparing for the tournament. He appreciated the presence of the Special Adviser to the Governor of Plateau State on Grassroots Sports, Hon. Hosea Habila Mutla, and wished all participating districts success in the competition.
Hon. Mutla, in his remarks, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to grassroots sports development. The immediate past GM of Plateau United, noted that grassroots competitions remain an important avenue for discovering young talents who can represent the state and the nation in the future.
“We always ensure we grace grassroots competitions to fish out talents,” he said, encouraging the players to showcase their abilities for greater recognition and opportunities in the world of sports.
The Sports Committee Chairman, also appreciated Senator Mwadkon for donating 14 footballs to each participating district and Hon. Musa Bagos for his generous cash donation to support the organizing committee.
The Nzem Berom Football Tournament is expected to feature teams from various districts, promoting unity, sportsmanship, and youth development across the Berom nation.
The competition promises exciting matches as teams battle for glory while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Berom people for the next 3weeks.
