The Football Association Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Sir Don Maren, who also doubles as the Local Government FA Chairman of Chairmen on the Plateau, has commended the leadership of football in Plateau State, Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande for the giant strides in repositioning football in a State popularly known as mecca of football in Nigeria but has recently been a shadow of herself.
A visibly happy and fulfilled Sir Don Maren, made this known in Bokkos during the visit of the PFA Chairman, Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande on grassroots clubsides over the weekend in both Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas.
In his words: “I appreciate the Chairman for honouring us, he’s keeping to his words; because during his campaign to be the PFA Chairman, he promised he’s going to develop grassroots football. And yes, he started showing it by visiting the rural areas to see the teams at the grassroots and what he’s done for us in Bokkos today will go a long way in building us up and also encouraging us.”
Sir Don Maren concluded: “This is the best thing I’ve ever seen in football industry in Plateau State since I became the BAFA Association (Bokkos Amateur Football Association) Chairman, I’ve been here for over 12 years now but I’ve never seen this type of kind gesture by a sitting PFA Chairman not until now. I seriously appreciate Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande.”
It would be recalled that the Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Hon Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande had earlier paid a visit on grassroots clubsides/academies in Jos South Local Government Area before doing same on Mangu Bokkos local government areas over the weekend with balls, training cones and training bibs in what is now tagged: “Meeting The Teams ‘A Gida Gida Su’.
