The last has not been heard from the Plateau State athletes currently in Abeokuta, Ogun State for the ongoing National Sports Festival.
Many of the athletes could not hold it back as they bare their minds on the promise made by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang as it concerns the #1 million for Gold medal, #750,000 for Silver medalists and #500,000 for Bronze Medalists

Naomi Monday Musa(A Chess Player): “I feel so excited about the promise made by our Governor and feel encouraged and I feel so motivated. And I just pray that God will help us to bring victory to our State, to make our State and everybody proud.”

Favour Akomolafe(Table Tennis): “About the package promised us by His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, am very, very happy because this will even help play harder in securing medals for the State. It’s a very great motivation. I don’t think other states have this motivation we have. As an athlete and an individual, it means a lot to me. I’m just too happy.”

Barnabas Patrick(Darts): “In Darts events we have about 22 games which we have 3 medals in each event, we hope to bring in many medal to Plateau State on the promise that our Governor has already made to us. Which is the sumptuous way to encourage our minds and capacity to do more so that we can come back and make our State proud.”

Samuel Ogwuche(Volleyball): “About the package that we’ve been promised by the Governor is very fair and we are hoping that we will do our best and get this rewards because that’s the main reason we are here. We want to make Plateau State proud and we want to make ourselves as individual athletes proud.”

HERE ARE VENUES AND EVENTS LINED UP FOR PLATEAU STATE TEAM TODAY, Monday 19th May, 2025.
- HOCKEY
MALE team will play Niger by 7am at Ijebu Ode Stadium. Later by 12 noon the Female will play Delta. - Weightlifting will start by 7am at NYSC Orientation camp.
- Badminton will start by 9am at Alake Sports center, Abeokuta.
- Basketball also starts today with pre-match meeting and pairing before kick off at MKO Stadium Abeokuta. Time will be communicated.
- CHESS will commence by 12 noon at Remo Stars Stadium.
