The sponsor of the Angwan Rukuba Peace Football Tournament, Bamidele Yusuf, has said that he’s ready to keep on sponsoring this annual tournament in Angwan Rukuba, provided it will help in promoting and sustaining peace in this place he was born, grew up and cut his soccer teeth with Jazzy Stars FA.
Bamidele, who was amazed with the mammoth crowd that turned out for the final, said there is no other joy than seeing people happy and come together in love and unity, tribe and religion notwithstanding.
In his words: “Truth be told am overwhelmed with this massive turnout. When I heard about the crisis that rocked Angwan Rukuba, I just finished a league game in Hungary then. I wasn’t myself and I nearly said this year’s tournament be cancelled. We can’t be playing football, while others are crying and in pains and sorrow. But my first Coach and football father, Sammy Adesoji, convinced me that this year’s own will be used to promote peace and to also show the world that peace has already returned to Angwa Rukuba. Truth be told, am happy seeing thousands here laughing together, jubilating and celebrating. With God on my side, this tournament will not stop to be held annually provided it’s bringing this joy and bonding to this community I grew up.”
