The Chief Executive Officer of Sammy Sports International Limited,owners of SSI Leagues and Media, Mr. Sammy Adesoji, alongside Staff of the organisation has paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC State Director, Mr Jonathan Yavala and the management team at the NYSC State Secretariat in Miango, Kufang.
During the visit, Sammy Adesoji proposed to introduce Teqball in the next NYSC Orientation Course in Plateau State.
The CEO also emphasized the need for a sustained partnership between both organizations to enhance sports development among Corps Members as he said SSI’s ongoing engagement with Corps Members has consistently provided coaching opportunities, media exposure, and sponsorship for sporting activities within the NYSC camp.
The Media guru thereafter described Teqball as an innovative sport that combines elements of football and table tennis, requiring skill, precision, and agility which has been embraced by professional soccer players for training and recreation.
Mr Adesoji, also stated that the sport has gained global recognition under its governing body, the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), which organizes international tournaments.
He expressed confidence that a collaboration with NYSC could lead to the discovery of young talents, which aligns with the Scheme’s mission of youth empowerment and skills development.
Responding, NYSC Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan I. Yavala, commended the initiative of SSI, stating that NYSC is open to partnerships that add value to Corps Members’ lives.
Mr Yavala, emphasized the need of engaging Corps members beyond the orientation camp, noting that the Scheme serves as a reservoir of untapped talents. He further stressed the need for continuity in such initiatives, highlighting that with proper mentorship, Corps Members could explore lucrative opportunities in the multi-billion-dollar sports industry.
He assured the SSI team that his doors are always open to the organisation for more collaborations that will enhance the scheme and benefit the organisation.
