The leadership of football on the Plateau has described the treatment metted at Plateau United Football Club as unprofessional.
Speaking to SSI Media, the Chairman of Plateau State Football Association, Hon(Dr) Prince Suleiman Yahaya Kwande said: “If the news we are getting from Lagos, where our club, Plateau United fc who are to take on their host this Sunday, Ikorodu City fc, is anything to go by, then it’s unprofessional and should be totally not tolerated. Although our team, Plateau United were granted access to the field where they ought to train, but the question is why will they not give them the entire field to train and do some shake ups but sharing the pitch with their host! How do they want them to perfect their strategies for the much important match against them, a pitch the away team knows little or nothing about. And to my understanding, this is against the NPFL laid down rules which give visislting teams enough time, space and privacy for pre-match preparation and perfection.”
Prince Suleiman Yahaya Kwande concludes: “We also got the report that the training was also under poor lighting. Ikorodu City fc can do better. But the only thing I told our team, Plateau United fc, is that they shouldn’t allow anything to distract them, discourage them or lower that high spirit they took to Lagos as they confront Ikorodu City fc this Sunday.”
It would be recalled that Plateau United fc boarded flight to Lagos on Friday for this Week 13 encounter.
