*Plateau Sports Council Hails Sports Commission’s Stadium Rehabilitation Initiative, Expresses Hope for More Projects*
The Plateau State Sports Council has commended the Sports Commission’s initiative to rehabilitate and maintain sporting facilities across the state, describing the intervention as a welcome development that could boost sports development.
The Director of Finance of the Plateau State Sports Council, Hezekiah Yohanna Vamse, made the remarks while representing the Director of the Council during a visit to inspect sporting facilities.
Vamse expressed satisfaction with the initiative, noting that the Council and the Honourable Commissioner were delighted by the Sports Commission’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure.
“This is a very laudable initiative, and we are happy about it. The Honourable Commissioner is equally happy. We are glad that this is coming from the Sports Commission because this is what we have been looking for and expecting,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the intervention would extend beyond the New Jos Stadium facility being visited to other sporting centres across Plateau State, particularly the Mangu Mini Stadium and other facilities requiring rehabilitation and regular maintenance.
According to him, attention to playing pitches and other essential infrastructure would contribute significantly to improving the condition of sporting facilities and creating a better environment for athletes and sporting activities.
Vamse described the ongoing efforts as a positive beginning, expressing confidence that more extensive rehabilitation projects would follow.
“Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. For me, this is the first step, and I believe bigger ones are coming,” he stated.
He further expressed hope that the Sports Commission would sustain the initiative by extending maintenance and rehabilitation activities to other sporting facilities across the state.
The Sports Council’s endorsement reflects growing expectations that the intervention will help restore sporting infrastructure and strengthen grassroots sports development in Plateau State.
