The excellent performance of the players of Riyom Local Government Area Football Team has been attributed to the motherly love and care been given to the team by the wife of the Local Government Chairman, Mrs Deborah Sati Shuwa.This was further brought to the fore when Mrs Sati Shuwa spoke to sports writers after their draw against Quan’pan LGA that qualified them to the quarter final at the St John’s college playground. Commenting on the reason they play well, she said ‘as a mother, I love to see them play, take them as my children thus I visit them in trainings, follow them to matches sometimes and feed them so that they can have strength to play, the reason you see them play well and qualified to the quarter finals after two games’.The Wife of the Chairman,stated that she also have girls in her care as she currently have about eight girls that are trafficked & rape victims and vulnerable girls under her care.That with what she has seen in the tournament so far ‘we intend to organise a female football tournament and see if we can form a female team from there and hope we will have our own girls version of this too ‘.It will be recalled that Riyom LGA are the first team and the only team that won their two matches on the bounce before drawing their third match to be the first at the quarter finals.
