PFA Chairman Extols Mighty Jets Mata’s Heroics In Abuja, Charges All Plateau State Representatives To Go For Broke In Repeating The 1999 Feat
Mighty Jets female team, Mighty Jets Mata fc, showed all and sundry that their 3-0 beating handed over highly rated Plateau United Queens fc at the Plateau State FA Cup final over the weekend was no fluke as they continued from where they stopped in Jos by bashing Kaduna State representative, Kada Queens FC 4-1 in Abuja at the National preliminary round to move to the next round.
Favour Philemon opened the flood gates in the 23rd minute, Blessing Swaitel made it 2-0 before the duo of Jemimah Daniel and Favour Uķwalu put the icing on the cake to make it 4‐0 before Ķada Queens fc of Kaduna got a consolatory goal to end the encounter 4‐1 to qualify the Coach Gadus Frank tutored side, assisted by Abdulazeez Agege into the next round.
It would be recalled that two years old Mighty Jets Mata fc got to the Round of 16 of the President Federation Cup, the first female team on the Plateau to get to that stage.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Football Association Chairma, Hon(Dr) Prince Suleiman Yahaya Kwande has lauded the great performance of the Mighty Jets female team. In his words: “You girls have made us proud and making one of our targets since coming onboard as PFA board become a reality. If you can remember,we reawakened the once dead female football on the Plateau by organising women competition to celebrate international women’s day and also created the women version of the State FA Cup. I’m happy with the results and progress we are now seeing ìn women’s football on the Plateau. ”
The visibly happy and hopeful Hon. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, went ahead to charge other Plateau State representatives to make the State proud nationally. In his words: “At this junction, I must commend our sports loving able Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for supporting the growth of the game and giving us the conducive environment to operate. In this regard, I enjoin all the 4 Plateau State representatives in this year President Federation Cup to go all out to capture the trophy(ies) to put that huge smile on the face of our always available Governor as a reward for his support. With what I saw at the finals, both Plateau United fc and Mighty Jets International FC in the male category and Mighty Jets Mata fc and Plateau United Queens fc, can win either or both trophies for Plateau State at the national level “.
It would be recalled that Plateau United Football Club defeated Iwuanyanwu Nationale 1-0 at the final to win the National FA Cup courtesy of a Donatus Iloka goal at the National stadium in Suruleŕe,Lagos.
