The Technical Adviser of Plateau United Football Club, Mbwas Mangut, has reeled out some factors responsible for the club insipid performance thus far this season.
In a hold no bare conversation with www.ssimedia247.com.ng, Mbwas Mangut says: “It’s quite unfortunate that this is happening to Plateau United by its own fans.
We came on board to restructure a little bit to see how the boys on the Plateau we get back that platform of getting back to the national team which has not been forthcoming for years. I coming onboard as an indiginene is becoming a problem to the indigine themselves!
Imagine, am only celebrated outside. I take solace in that seeing people out there celebrating me globally.”
And as it concerns the incident that’s brought Plateau United to this insipid state, Mbwas Mangut reveals: “Coming to what happened in the match against Rangers FC of Enugu, to me it was a big drama of the year. A Plateau United team that was one man down for the whole of more than 60 mins against a Rangers team, the defending Champions and just been knocked out from the continent, Plateau United didn’t only get a point from that match, but despite been one man down still dominated the game! A team I newly built after loosing a lot of players to other clubs. Before that game, we were placed 4th on the log of which we went back to 8th position after losing an away game. Trying to stabilize on the fourth position, only for some enemies of the team that call themselves fans started throwing stones, insulting me, it didn’t stop there but followed the Rangers team outside, broke the glass of their team bus, all these led to three points and three goals been deducted from Plateau United. These inside enemies of this team will see nothing good about Plateau United. I won a match, 3-1 against an unbeaten and a red hot Remo Stars at the continent then, they still insulted me. To be candid with you, am not surprised. As the saying goes, Prophet is not recognized or respected in his place.
The thing they don’t understand is that am a focused person, professionally dedicated to my job. I’m no politician and nobody can drag me into it. We have a God given Governor that loves football and a wonderful team of Management headed by Habila Hosea Mutla. These enemies of the club’s progress can’t drag me into been tribalistic or showing religious differences, am a professional to the core. I know what I can do and I so much believe in this team, ready to take it to where it ought to be no matter whose ox is gored.
He continues: “They go out there and to the government to rubbish people’s good work. But my joy is that some of the people they report me to still believe in me and my capabilities. This team is work in progress, they will surely come good despite the discouraging pull down syndrome suffered always in the hands of these enemies of progress. What I know is that sooner or later, these people will be exposed.
Coach Mbwas Mangut reiterates: “We’ve just played 15 games and there are still many games to be played. Take a look at Ikorodu City, five games back they were at the relegation zone but look at them now, they are 4th on the log. Our position to the top is just five points. Am calling on the real fans and supporters of this club not to be discouraged or distracted by all the current situations. People that were at the stadium in that Rangers match will clearly see that the incidents that took place outside the stadium was sponsored by the enemies of the club that call themselves lovers of the club.”
He concludes: “I love criticism but it should be constructive and should be the truth. Either they like it or not, Plateau United FC will come good at the end of this season.”
