The Tennis event of the 2025 International University Sports Federation,FISU, trials hosted by the University of Jos, commenced with exhilarating matches between the Ivory tower students, who are taking the advantage of the favourable weather to showcase their talents like Djokovic, Serena and the likes.
The Steel Rolling Quaters courts, hosting the events had in the female first Round Omeh Joy of UNN defeating Blessing Adai, Fed.Univ, Lokoja, 6-1,6-3; Adeuai Jesus Toyosi,Univ. Educ, Ekiti, over ran Bado Faith Shambe,Unijos, 2 sets of 6-0, 6-0; as Nkwachukwu Mary, UNN outclassed Aiyedege Davina Mercy,FUL, triumphed 2 sets to 1, 7-5,3-6,10-6. Also, Ladunjoye Idowu,BIU beat Omeh Joy, UNN, 6-1,6-3; Mercy Ali, Unijos defeated Festus Abigail, TSU, 6-1,6-1.
Meanwhile, in the Male category, Sani Musa, UniAbuja beat Yunusa HD,UniMaid, 6-0, 6-0, Nuhu Adegan, ABU defeated Uruemurie Clinton,NMU, 6-3,6-1.
Also, in the game between David Dalyop,TSU and Mohammed Suleiman,BUK, it ended in favour of Dalyop with a 6-1,6-1 victory, while in the last match of the day, Obagbodi Matthew,NDU beat his counterpart from his school, Raymond Caleb, 6-2, 6-0.
In furtherance of the trials, the Day 2 of Athletics events continues tomorrow 10th April. 2025 at the Jos Intl Stadium, Zaria Road, while the Swimming events commences by 2pm through Friday by 9:00am, at the Lutheran Pools by Old-Airport Junction, jos, to produce new Michael Phelps at the pools.
