As build up to De Amazon RoadWaka continues to gather momentum with only 3 days left, enthusiastic participants were today thrilled to an informative, enlightened, and entertaining seminar ahead of the D-day.
The seminar which featured array of eloquent speakers had participants yearning for more at the culmination.
Commissioner for Health Plateau State, Hon. Nicholas Baamlong was ably represented by Dr. Mafulul Masok who was full of commendations to the CEO of De Amazon RoadWaka Jennifer Okoye while urging people to imbibe the habit of exercise to stay healthy.
Main partner of De Amazon RoadWaka PLASCHEMA who’s Acting Executive Director, Dr. Solomon Kwande was ably represented by Director of Marketing, Theresa Gofwen.
According to Mrs. Gofwen, De Amazon RoadWaka will soon become a movement which will involve everyone on the Plateau for the purpose of achieving good and sustainable health for all.
On the aspect of proper diet, parcipants were thrilled with the presentation of Dietician Mitchelle Umeadi who threw more light on how people should eat proper diet in order to stay healthy.
According to Dietician Mitchelle, food does not only provide us with energy but also nourishment to live well.
She advised people not to concentrate only on carbohydrates rather to go natural by balancing their food with vegetables and fruits such as cucumber, garden egg, orange among others to their daily food while also recommending acha and tamba to the public as very nutritious for healthy living.
She warned that people should stay away from consuming fats.
On his part, Dr. Amodu who represented Dr. Daniel Meshak, a Consultant Family Physician and Lifestyle Medicine Expert, took time to educate the participants on the importance of engaging in physical activities.
According to him, Walking 30 minutes daily reduces the risk of heart disease by 30-40% while also adding that a daily step count of 7000-10,000 steps lowers mortality.
Dr. Amodu ended by saying if exercise were to be a pill, it will be the most prescribed drug in the world as regular walking improves insulin sensitivity and sleep quality.
Earlier, the CEO of De Amazon RoadWaka Jennifer Okoye appreciated participants for turning up for the seminar and urged them to do same this Saturday for the road waka which starts with the arrival time at 6:00am while takeoff at 6:30am at Jay FM.
