Alhassan Yakmut Pays A Rare Visit On Plateau United fc As They Battle Kano Pillars Today
Chairman of Plateau United Football Club and former Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Alhassan Yakmut, has reaffirmed the club’s ambition to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title this season, charging the players to secure maximum points against Kano Pillars.
The former Plateau State Sports Council Administrator explained that the visit was his first opportunity to observe the team’s training activities this season, following previous engagements that prevented him from attending.
According to him, the visit provided an opportunity to assess the players’ performance, observe areas identified by the technical crew for improvement after their last league outing, and evaluate preparations for the crucial fixture against Kano Pillars.
Yakmut expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete favourably in the league, stressing that Plateau United’s ambition goes beyond merely participating in the competition.
He maintained that the club had established clear objectives for the season, with winning the league title remaining a major target.
“Our target this season is to win the league. We have set goals and objectives for ourselves, and we must continue working towards achieving them,” he stated.
Speaking specifically on Sunday’s encounter, Yakmut emphasised the importance of securing all three points while also improving the team’s goal difference.
“My take is that we need the three points first, followed by improving our goal difference. That is our focus, and that is our target,” he declared.
He further explained that a convincing victory against Kano Pillars would help Plateau United recover from the disappointment of their previous league encounter in Aba against Enyimba.
“If we get these three points and secure a good goal advantage, it will help us cancel out what happened in Aba last Sunday,” Yakmut added.
The Plateau United chairman’s visit to the training ground underscores the club management’s determination to support the technical crew and players as they pursue their objectives in the ongoing NPFL campaign.
With Kano Pillars visiting Jos, Plateau United will be seeking not only a return to winning ways but also a convincing performance capable of strengthening their position in the league standings.
