Ademola Lookman, Raphael Onyedika, Bamidele Yusuf And Two Others Are The Only Nigerians That Found The Back Of The Net In Europe Continental First Leg Knockout Matches
The quintet of Ademola Lookman of Atletico Madrid, Raphael Onyedika of Club Brugge, Bamidele Yusuf of Ferencvaros, Franklin Tebo Uchenna of Red Star Belgrade and Taofeek Ismaheel of Lech, were the only Nigerians on song for their respective clubsides at the continental competition in Europe.
In the UEFA Champions League, both Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika shone like million stars for Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge respectively, scoring one goal each, with Raphael Onyedika having an icing on the cake with an assist in a 3-3 draw in the first leg of the knockout stage .
In the Europa League, only the duo of Bamidele Yusuf of Ferencvaros and Franklin Tebo Uchenna of Red Star Belgrade hosted the green and white Nigeria flag by scoring for their respective clubs in this crucial stages of the competition.
In the match between host Ludogorets and visiting Ferencvaros, which ended 2-1 in favour of Ludogorets; Bamidele Yusuf got his 3rd goal of the campaign in the 86th minute.
Franklin Tebo Uchenna on his own part, was a saving grace for his team as his solitary goal was more than enough to give his an edge ag home in the return leg after netting the only goal at away for his team. The match ended Lille 0 Red Star Belgrade 1.
Taofeek Ismaheel’s only Nigerian to score in the Europa Conference League, as he helped his team, Lech, to beat Kups 0-2 at away.
