The forthcoming 17th Edition of Nigerian Colleges of Agriculture And Related Disciplines Games tagged ‘NICARDGA 2025’, to be co-hosted by the Federal College of Veterinary And Medical Laboratory Technology, Vom; Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology,Vom; and Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Kuru; is basically to unearth talents and for the students to develop skills, explore interests, and grow personally.Stating this fact, the Provost Federal College Veterinary And Medical Laboratory Technology, Vom, Dr. Chukwu O.O. Chukwu, who also doubles as the Chairman, National Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Agriculture and Related Disciplines(NACHCARD), maintained that Plateau State is known for sports, that’s the reason they had to bid for it and they got it.He said: “Plateau, as you know is known for sports and we want to use the games to ‘sell’ it to the world that there is peace and coexistence in the state, we want to also use the games to make the students interact, discover talents and not just to read”.On the support by the State Government to the institutions, he commended the Governor, H.E Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on the tremendous support to sports, the Commissioner of Sports, Hon Musa Ashoms and the Plateau State Sports Council ably led by Prof Ezra Gunen for the cordial relationships that exists between both.He assured of adequate and up-to-date facilities within the host institutions as athletes will not have to go out to different venues to do their various sports. On why the Colleges are hosting, he stated that the games are hosted by the six geopolitical zones, and when it got to the turn of North Central, they bidded for and won the bid.And also went ahead to state that the games will boost the economy of the state.Earlier, the Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,SWAN, Plateau State Chapter, Alfred Saiki, together with the Association Vice Chairman, Sammy Adesoji and otheÅ• members, informed the leaders of the Hosting institutions that members of SWAN, intend to cover the games and give it the necessary visibility it needs and requires.He said, “We came to inform the Colleges of our intention to cover the NICARDGA, just as we did during the NUGA Games at the University of Jos, which has cemented our relationship with them. Thus, we intend to give the games visibility and be partners in progress even after the games’.The SWAN Chairman then assured that good players will be given publicity and necessary steps to move higher.
