The 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta has proven to be more successful than another festival for Plateau Athletes.Plateau again continued their dominance in the long distance as Gang James Boyi won the gold medal in 1500m.In Gymnastic, Kande Adamu, a silver medalist in the last Youth Games, today in the final, won Gold medal in Double Mini Trampoline and a silver in Power Tumbling events. Also, Eremuje Afini again won a silver medal in Double Mini Trampoline to increase Plateau medal haul. The day closed for Team Plateau in wrestling, as three more bronze medals were added by Paul Ikpom 87kg, Simon Christopher 98kg and Taofiq Ade in the 60kg, to highlight Team Plateau’s preparedness for the games. The games are gradually coming to an end and athletes are already gearing up for the closing ceremony while others are back to their base. However, the excitement the games has created will go down in the hearts and memories of athletes, coaches and food vendors who have made brisk businesses from the opening day.Credit: Nathaniel Mobolade, SSIMEDIA, Gateway Games.
