The Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia State, played host to the National under 12 and 15 Handball Championship, from 18th to 29th March, 2025.
Plateau registered in under 15 girls and under 12 boys.
It was an uphill task for the Plateau teenagers as they face 10 other contenders from
Abia, Adamawa, Benue, Cross River and Sokoto states.
Other participants came from, Niger, Osun, Kwara States, C&S Academic and Boku academy.
In the end Plateau girls settled for bronze finishing 3rd, while the boys ended up in the 5th position.
Recieving the Athletes and officials in his office on Wednesday 2nd April, 2025, the Director of Sports Prof Ezra Gunen, emphasized that Governor Mutfwangs relentless support, the Athletes hard work and the Coaches dedication, is believed to be the reason behind this achievement.
The Director added that “with this feat, more will be invested in Handball in the future.”
The Association, while presenting the 3rd place trophy, bronze medals and Certificates won, promised to work harder especially on the boys, to justify the huge investment government is making on the teams.
