The positive football fever touching all corners of Plateau State for good has finally caught up with the third tier of club football in Nigeria, Nigeria Nationwide League One as it organizes its first ever official Pre-season Tournament amongst NLO teams in the State.
In a first of its kind meeting by all the NLO clubs in the State that briefly had the Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Hon Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande in attendance, who promised the Association’s support to the NLO club sides, was called by the State NLO Chairman, Sammy Adesoji, to detail the clubs the outcome of the Virtual Annual General Meeting and to set the ball rolling for the first ever Plateau State NLO Clubs preseason tournament.
The Chairman of Nigeria Nationwide League Clubs on the Plateau, Sammy Adesoji, who commended the Plateau State Football Association for giving this league a conducive and enabling environment to thrive, said: “We are very lucky to have a listening and results oriented PFA Chairman who will always stop at nothing in making sure that the game of football thrive in the State. And that’s why am able to gather all the NLO clubs in Plateau State at the PFA Secretariat to plan the way forward as it concerns the growth and well-being of NLO clubs in the State.”
Sammy Adesoji, who also doubles as the PFA Media Chairman concludes: “It’s a very big slap on our faces despite having nine(9) NLO Division One clubs on the Plateau have been unable to gain promotion to the second division, NNL, for more than 10years. But with this step table, I believe there will be a positive change this time around.”
Meanwhile, the maiden edition of Plateau State NLO clubs Pre-season Tournament has been tentatively fixed for the month of March before the official kickoff of the NLO Division One league slated for the 11th of April, 2025.
The Pre-season Tournament will be known as the SSI Leagues in Conjunction with the PFA Plateau NLO Pre-Season Tournament.
