After a very successful and memorable 2024, where series of football activities geared at developing football on the Plateau and returning the State to the hub and mecca of football it used to be in Nigeria, the Plateau State Football Association, ably led by Hon Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, are not resting on their oars as series of activities are lined up to sustain and build upon the success recorded last year.
Since this current Board of the Plateau State Football Association, headed by Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande came into office in October 2023, below can be said to be the journey thus far apart from other mind-blowing successes recorded:
1) 2023 President Cup(That now includes the women category after many years of absence)
2)2023 GOVERNOR’S CUP(Organized after just few weeks in office)
3) Women’s Days Mini Tournament (To mark and celebrate our women on the International Women’s Day. The first of its kind on the Plateau).
4) Barr. Caleb Muftwang’s Under-13 Football Tournament(For development and to pick players that will dorn the white and green jersey of Nigeria in 2025/2026 at the Under-15 level)
5) Welcomed and hosted the FIFA/NFF TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT SCHEME.
6) Visit by FIFA/ CAF TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT SCHEME Team
7) Cornerflag Connections video scouting programme that also unearthed the seven players of which four finally made it with the Under-15 National team to Morocco last year)
8) Revival of the once dead Igbo league.

11) Hon Daniel Asama scouting programme
12) Organized Plateau Security Games amongst security agencies to create synergy and hence, promote peace.
13) 17 PFA Under-15 team travel to Abuja
14) Seven Under-15 PFA players travelled to Abuja in which four finally made it to the National team.

18) Hosted the NPFL 2023 Finals between GOMBE AND RANGERS where the league trophy was presented to the eventual champions, Rangers FC of Enugu at the New Jos Stadium.

21) Donation of training equipments to the State under 15 team as a boost to the National Youth Games in Asaba.

24) Organising Late Da Musa Giwa memorial Cup between Plateau United FC and Giwa FC.
25) Donation of Prizes to Langtang North 2023 Chairman’s cup
26) Donation of Balls and Trophy for the Jos North youth CAN football tournament
27) Plateau All Stars games in honor of Justice Christopher and Yusuf Mangut in progress
28) Jos North and Jos South keke Napep unity tournament in progress
29) Donation of training kits and Jerseys to Back to Back Orphanage Home
31) Championing the return of the Oduduwa Cup
33) Award of Excellence to over 50 former players on the Plateau that have distinguished themselves both national and internationally.
34 Hosting of Division ONE (NLO) promotion play-off, of which FC Basira of Lafia, Nasarawa State got promoted to Nigeria National League (NNL).
35 NLO promotion play-off to Division TWO.
30) Meeting with grassroots Coaches and owners of grassroots/academies on the Plateau.
With the mandate to maintain the above mentioned, the Plateau State Football Association, chaired by Hon Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande will do the under listed in 2025:
1. Organize coaching Seminars, symposiums, courses and programs for grassroots coaches in the whole 17 Local Government Councils of Plateau State.
2. Commence the women category of both the Governor’s Cup and the Super league, among others.
3. Organize Plateau State Traditional rulers football tournament that will see all the tribes and clans come together under one umbrella via football.
4. Partner and support the Sports Writers Association(SWAN) Plateau State Chapter.
In his words, the Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Hon Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande: “All what you saw last year was not a flash in the pan, it’s not a one off thing, we are sustaining all and building on them all for the betterment of football on the Plateau. We are also organizing coaching programs for our grassroots coaches for better output by our players, we are also introducing a tournament amongst all tribes and clans on the Plateau to promote that peace and unity we are currently enjoying.”
“Our women/girls will be very busy and fully involved. We started by having them in the Plateau State FA Cup last year and this year, we will be having series of tournaments like Governor’s Cup, Super league, among others. And not forgetting the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Plateau State Chapter. We are ready to partner and support them in taking football forward on the Plateau.”
