As events of the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba hits up, Plateau strolled into the medals table after a keenly contested race in the female cycling Individual Time Trial. Racheal Davou came third to win the bronze, the first medal for the State.
It wasn’t long after the medal feat, that the State began to witness a series of poor results.
The biggest casualty of the day was Karate who left the competition empty handed at the close of events in the Sports. The team lost gallantly and couldn’t consolidate on the lone bronze it won in the last edition.
Results of events on day 2:
BOXING
1.Moses William loss to Lagos in the 42kg class.
2.Nehemiah Monday walked over Imo in the 44kg category to book a date with Borno in the quater finals.
TABLE TENNIS
The team loss in all the singles and the mixed double matches but might hope to get some respite in the doubles events.
HANDBALL female:
PL 21 vs Ekiti 27.
The team will play Abia on Saturday.
BASKETBALL female:
PL 5 vs Delta10
Plateau walked over Ebonyi in its second match.
WEIGHTLIFTING
Godwin is currently second in group A of the 55kg class and hope that results in group B on Saturday will favour him.
TENNIS, singles:
While Jemima Amos advanced to the 3rd round, Barnabas Alex lost in the same round to Lagos.
Benard Caleb and Bathsheba Yakubu both loss to Ondo and Niger respectively in the 2nd rounds.
CHESS
The team is still advancing on their respective boards.
SATURDAY EVENTS:
HOCKEY female:
PL vs Lag at Okpanam Hockey field.
FOOTBALL male;
Plateau will face Edo by 1pm at St Patrick play ground.
ATHLETICS
Will start with Shot put by 9am and 1,500M by 3pm at the main bowl.
SCRABBLE
To commence by 9am at the multipurpose Hall.
GOLF
To start by 7am, behind Government House.
GYMNASTICS
Will also hold tomorrow by 9am at the multipurpose hall.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL female, by 8am.
