Team Plateau are leaving no stone unturned in surpassing their achievements of the last edition in the ongoing National Youth Games.
Team Plateau are now two Medals more than what they garnered in 2024. This year’s event have fetched Team Plateau 17 medals thus far.
It would be recalled that Team Plateau could only get 15 medals last tome out.
Team Plateau put up impressive displays across various sports on day 4, as a total of seven medals were captured in 5 sports. The sports include: Para Powerlifting, Golf, Cycling, Darts, and Gymnastics
PARA POWERLIFTING
In a sheer show of dominance, Emmanuel Jallang out-classed fellow contestants to win Gold in the class of 59, lifting an impressive 88kg. The win increased Plateau’s Gold to 3, with two won by the Powerlifting association
CYCLING
Rejoice Danjuma, having secured Silver in day 3 of the Games, showed that she was not done yet with the quest for more medals and that she showed by winning Bronze in the 10km individual time trial on day 5
DARTS
The duo of Glory Williams and Princess Yakubu put aside the disappointment of elimination in the singles on day 4 and teamed up in the doubles to win Silver in the finals against Team Bayelsa
GOLF
Rotmwagyi Monday saw off contest from other rivals to win bronze in Match Play.
GYMNASTICS
Team Plateau’s Gymnast, known for being consistent with winning medals, captured 3 Bronze across three categories. The first came from Emmanuella Fashuyi in the Double Mini Trampoline [DMT].
Suraj Albashir joined the party, winning the second Bronze in Power Tumbling, and the third Bronze was secured by Francis Michael in Aerobics
OTHER REPORTS
In Badminton, Mudimah Zinnah won his first Mach against Cross Rever 21- 12 and 21- 8, which has qualified him for the 3rd round
The first match for Scrabble in the female category against Osun ended 3-1in favour of Plateau. The same was recorded in the female category as they won two drew one and lost one, taking them to the next round
Samson Shedrack and Samson Destiny in Darts fought to the quarter finals, but their progress was halted by Team Lagos
In the male category of cycling, Menshach Daniel narrowly missed the bronze medal to his Rivers state counterpart
Benard Caleb lost the 3rd round of 4-2, 5-3 to Rivers, in the game of Tennis, while in the girls’ doubles, Bathsheba and Jamima lost at the quarter final 4-2,5-3 to Edo
It was a poor outing for athletics, in the 1500m male and female category, as the state finished 4th and 6th, respectively
Day 4 ended with Plateau winning 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 5 Bronze making the overall number of medals 17
