Nigerian players nursing the dream of taking their talents to Europe have been provided a veritable platform to make that dream a reality as the annual Dreamland Abia State Under-19 Cup commences on Tuesday, 2nd of December, 2025 at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, Abia State.
According to the Scouting Tournament Director, Ndudi Edede, “Dreamland Abia State Under-19 Cup is an avenue where gifted and talented player or players can be scouted to lucrative deal abroad.”
On the reason behind the rechristianing of the scouting tournament, Ndudi Edede reiterates “We soughted the approval of the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja to change the title of this edition of the championship in order to create more opportunities for our talented young athletes and also for marketing purposes”
He concludes: “We are grateful to Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State for his love for sports and youth development, and above all, his love for Abia State. We also commend Sir Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba, Hon. Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development for his commitment and belief in the youth capacity building competition. We are deliberate in our actions in promoting tourism in the State through sports to compliment the efforts of the Government of Abia State”
Abia State has produced some of the best football players not only in Africa but in the world at large. The likes of Kanu Nwankwo, Uche Okechukwu, Mike Emenalo, Kenneth Omerue, Ike Uche, Frank Onyema, Samuel Chukwueze among others. There are positive indications this unique edition of this talents hunt championship will produce their likes.
