National Para Games: 149 Contingent Departs Plateau In High Spirit As Governor Mutfwang Charges Them To Go And Conquer
After winning 5 gold, 13 silver and 7 bronze medals in the 2nd edition of the National Para Games, Plateau State contingent will be going all out to better their medals haul as the 3rd edition of the games runs from the 26th of March to the 4th of April 2026 in Abuja.
The event will host physically challenged athletes from states of the federation, to compete for honours in 15 Sports.
Plateau State unleashed a 149 contingent packed with 79 athletes, 16 Coaches, 7 Secretaries, 14 helpers, 17 logistic staff, Delegates and Security personnel, to hoist the state flag at the annual sports fiesta.
The highly enthusiastic athletes and officials, breeming with confidence, will push for medals in eight sports, namely, Para athletics, Para Soccer, Para badminton, Cycling, Amputee football, Powerlifting, Karate and Para Table tennis.
In a farewell ceremony organised in honour of the contingent on Friday, 27th march, 2026, at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, the Executive Governor, Barr Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the Director of Sports, Prof Ezra Gunen, charged them to go and represent the state with dignity and pride, adding that they have been granted the licence to go and conquer.
Prof Gunen appreciated the Governor for approving funds for the sports competition, assuring that all entitlements will be adequately taken care of and encouraged the contingent not to disappoint.
The contingent having departed for Abuja, will be accommodated at the NYSC Orientation camp, Kubwa, while the competition will take place at the package A and B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
