The newly appointed Technical Adviser for Plateau United, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote, has reiterated his goal of coming to Plateau United is to salvage the team from its present position and maintain its Premiership status.
Gbenga Ogunbote, also referred to as ‘The Oracle’, said this in a parly with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,SWAN Plateau Chapter.
He said ‘my goal of coming to Plateau United is to salvage the club from its present 19th position on the log, thus, the aim is to maintain its Premiership status but we need to be intentional about this’.
The former Shooting Stars, Lobi Stars, Giwa fc and Sunshine Stars of Akure gaffer, enjoined the players to aim above the Stars, ‘per adventure, they fall, they will fall among the stars, so we aim to finish strong and escape will be guaranteed’.
That his contract takes him to the end of the season, then it can be renewed depending on both parties.
The TA told the Sports Writers that the team needs restructuring but will first manage the situation, use new players as substitutes in key positions to understand the team.
‘For every session I’ve had, we focused on goalscoring because it’s only when you score that the relief is on your team.We have two reasons why we play- to score and to protect your goal, though both the goalkeeping, midfield and attack needs reshuffling but we see how we create healthy competitions among all the players. It will be difficult getting all the players we desire to get to beef-up the team but we’ll work on both the old and new players to synergise and form a formidable team’.
Coach Gbenga Ogunbote thereafter commended the chairman, Alhassan Yakmut, who is vast in sports administration as he urged everyone to join hands together to maintain the image of the club which is a brand in the league.
