Gymnasts from Plateau in the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, are set to take to the floor to begin their quest for medals any moment from now.
The Gymnasts who are hopeful of getting medals in their strong holds, are competing in Power Tumbling, and Double-mini Trampoline.
Speaking to ssimedia247.com.ng , coach Mike Adamu , at the indoor sports hall of the Alake Sports centre, said they are not ready to give up their strongholds in the events they are participating in.
He said ‘we are gearing up to begin our quest for medals of the Gymnastic events and we know our strongholds and not ready to give them up; our Gymnasts in the male categories are Richard Adamu, Eremuje Afini & Khalid Kabir Ibrahim, who are good in the Floor Artistics and will be participating in six apparatus in team events, then the gymnasts with the higher points advances to the 8-man final, so we are hopeful of medals there”.
Coach Mike also pointed out that the female Gymnast, Kande Adamu, will also strive to get her specialty medal in power Tumbling.
It would be recalled that Kande Adamu won a silver medal in the last Youth Games in Asaba and she’s set to up her medal quest.
Just before this publication, Plateau Badminton team in the men’s double comprising of Nungji John and Adamu Emmanuel, defeated Team Kogi 2-0 to advance to the round of 16 against Team Taraba later today.
Other events are also lined up for the day.
