Plateau NLO Preseason Tournament: PFA Chairman Enjoins Clubs To make Good Use Of The Brand New Tournament As Match Day 1 Records A Win And A Draw:
The maiden edition of the SSI Leagues Plateau State NLO Preseason Tournament finally kicked off yesterday at the New Jos Stadium.
The tournament put together by Sammy Sports International Ltd, owners of SSI Media and SSI Leagues in Partnership with the Plateau State Football Association to put all the clubs in the third tier league in proper shape before the commencement of the league proper saw a win and a draw in the first two matches.
In the first match, NLO Division One side, Mighty Jets Feeders defeated newly promoted NLO Division One side, Global Peace Football Club 1-0, while the second match between NLO Division One sides, Jos Dream Big FC and Vom Vet Rovers fc ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Prince Honourable Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande has urged the clubs to make good use of this tournament. According to him: “I must start by first and foremost commend SSI League, who are in partnership with us for organizing this tournament to prepare our teams for the league which has not seen any of our teams gaining promotion to the NNL for more than 20years now.”
“It’s a shame and a disappointment that Plateau State, despite parading more than ten clubs and couple with the abundance of talents on ground will be struggling to gain promotion to the Nigeria National League from the NLO Division One for more than 20years now. Hence, this Pre-season Tournament which is the first of its kind. Don’t forget that my mandate as the PFA Chairman is to take football on the Plateau to where it ought to be and this is one of them.”
Prince Honourable Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande went further to implore the clubs to make good use of this tournament to prepare themselves for the league which will commence next month.
