After days of silence, the Assistant General Manager of Plateau United Football Club, Danjuma Isandu has given reasons why he refused to celebrate his 60th birthday.
Danjuma Isandu, known for his prowess in scoring via heading where he scored 43 goals during his playing days, used to mark each year of his birthday with friends and loved ones with much to eat and drink, was nowhere to be found, even at his 60th birthday.
Responding since on Wednesday, 15th of January when he marked his Diamond Jubilee, Danjuma Isandu said: “Although, it’s a thing of joy to have clocked 60 years on planet earth but I refused to throw up any party this year apart from the fact that I was indoors to thank my creator for making me see another year in sound health.”
“You still want to know why this year’s celebration was not marked with feasting as usual? Tor, I just think that it will be unwise and heartless to throw up a party when all is not well with my darling club yet. Plateau United FC, after the 3points and 3 goals deduction from points garnered, coupled with the closed door imposed on the team, and our placement on the table is never a thing of joy to me. That’s the reason for the low key birthday this year despite the fact that it is my diamond jubilee celebration. I hope you now see the reason? “
Plateau United Football Club, who despite the unfavourable 3-match closed door ban placed on it, was still able to amass a whooping 7 points from a possible 9, beating Nasarawa United 2-0 on the 24th of November; beat Heartland fc 3-2 on the 8th of December; and was held to a 0-0 draw by Enyimba FC on the 26th of December, 2024.
Plateau United FC opens the second round of this season on the 26th of January , 2025, with a home game against Rivers United FC with its fans in attendance.
It would be recalled that Plateau United FC held Rivers United FC to a 1-1 draw in far away PortHarcourt on the 30th December, 2025 to end the first round on a high.
