Football fans that will throng the New Jos Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, from 8am till 2pm today, will be treated to some sumptuous soccer delicacies as security personnels on the Plateau drop their guns and match unto the pitch of play as the final Groups games of the Plateau State Inter Security Agencies Football Tournament takes center stage.
This tournament, put together by the Plateau State Football Association to promote the peace and unity currently enjoyed on the Plateau and also creating synergy between security agencies in the State will have it’s last group matches played out today.
Group A, already sorted out with both Federal Fire Service and DSS Football teams in the quarter final, both will only be playing against one another to know the team that will come tops. Both are having 3pts each. While Plateau State Fire Service Football Team in the same Group have already been ousted with no point from two matches played.
In Group B, it will be bragging right all the way of who to finish the group as the winner when both Army Football Team and Operation Rainbow Football Team confront themselves by 10am today. Both have made it to the quarter final stage.
Unlike Groups A and B that are already sorted out, there is a lot to play for in Group C.
Group C leaders, Immigration Service Football Team, having played 2 matches with 3 points, Immigration team must hope and pray that the match between Police Force Football Team and Road Safety Football Team ends in a draw or better still, either of them wins 1-0; or above all, Immigration will finish as the Group winner if Road Safety Football Team beat Police Force Football Team 2-0. That same 2-0 scoreline will also be more than enough to qualify Road Safety to the quarter final. But on the part of Police Force Football Team, either loose, draw or win, they are safe into the quarter final stage provided they are not beaten more than one goal margin. Anything more than that will get them eliminated.
In Group D, NSCDC Football Team are home and dry as they’ve already qualified to the last 8. The battle is the second team that will join them at the knockout stage.
