The die is cast and the time is now as two of Plateau’s darling teams, Plateau Utd and Mighty Jets Int’l FC look set to renew their rivalry once again.
However, make no mistake about it; it is the youth U-19 teams of both clubs who will slug it out against each other in their opening matches of the new National U-19 Youth League which has the backing of the National Sports Ministry, the NFF and the NPFL in order to provide younger players with the right platform to showcase their football talents.
Jets U-19 youth team headed by Sammy Adesoji have been showing hunger and determination to impress their hardworking technical crew headed by coach Lawrence Oputa, the hunger and determination could be visibly seen in their 7-3 victory over FC Academy last week in a fiercely contested friendly encounter that saw the likes of Geoffery Ishaya, Selven Chanfa, Jamilu Mabo, Samson Adedayo and Bashir Mahmud all in the score sheet.
The match against their city neighbours, Plateau Utd U-19, is today,, by 4pm and it’s expected to attract a large number of fans to the New Jos Stadium to cheer their favorite teams to victory.
