Finalists have emerged in the ongoing God’s Vineyard Gospel Football Tournament. In the two semi final matches played yesterday, it took the lotteries of penalties before St. Peters Academy could overcome Tudun Wada FC 5-4 after the regulation time result ended 0-0 to make it to the final.In the second semi final match played, Bank FC have Kadi Junior to thank as his solitary goal was all his team needed to beat a hard playing Police Ambassador 1-0 to qualify for the final.With the semi final matches completed, Banks FC will battle it out with St. Peters Academy on Saturday at the Police Field by 1pm.The brain behind the tournament, Pastor Mrs Shalewa Disu of God’s Vineyard Gospel Fellowship in a chat with journalists said: “This you are seeing is a revelation shown me by God to take these youths off crimes and social vices, and win their hearts for him. I specifically want to thank the Chairman of Plateau State Football Association, Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande for giving this event his blessings. I will also want to appreciate Prophetic Force, Prophecy Today, Mission Minds International, and the Jungle Ministry among others for their support in winning souls for Christ through this football competition. We are doing this to give hope to the next generation.”Jungle Outreach Coordinator, Pastor Francis Abu goes this: “At the end of this event we are hoping we will get vibrant young men in the society who will be God fearing even in the sports sector that will be self disciplined and be more rooted in Christ.”On his own part, the Technical Chairman of the competition, James Habila, says: “This is a commendable vision by Mrs Shalewa Disu of God’s Vineyard Gospel Fellowship to get the youths more useful to God, themselves, their families and the society at large. And technically, I can tell you that the standard of play is beyond what we expected. And the turnout of fans have been so commendable.”According to the visioneer of this football competition, Pastor Mrs Shalewa Disu, there are plans on ground to make the competition an annual one.
